Where We Work

Lunigiana

Lunigiana is a calm region of Tuscany renowned for its olive groves, vineyards, cuisine, and stellar panoramas. It is situated between Emilia-Romagna and Liguria, extending between valleys that open between the mountain ranges of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Apuan Alps, which surround it on both sides.

Always considered a borderland, Lungiana offers a wild, yet simultaneously welcoming landscape, where hills dotted with chestnut trees, olive groves and vineyards offer a breathtaking view, particularly as summer gives way to autumn and the leaves begin to transition colors.
Castles, fortified villages and churches are commonplace in the Lungiana, reminding us of its storied history and rich culture.

Lunigiana hosted renowned Florentine poet Dante Alighieri during his exile in 1306. Hosted by the noble Malaspina family, who ruled Lunigiana in the 13th and 14th centuries, the poet references this period in some songs of his most famous work.
Traces of this passage can still be found in “Dante's House in Lunigiana” in Mulazzo, for example, as well as in the remains of the Giovagallo castle in Tresana.
